You need to be aged 16 and over. For primary school children we run the Junior Paramedics programme for schools and clubs.
You will be learning how to save lives from the best. You will be also lying on the floor being saved and being the rescuer. You will be practicing CPR on the manikins and blowing up their lungs. You will learn how to save a choker on a brilliant device called a choking vest, to see if you’ve mastered the moves. You will also be practicing a few dressings as well as learning a bit of theory.
We show a couple of slides with some injuries that have some blood on them. We’ll always warn you when these are coming so you can hide behind the chair !
Yes you do to comply with the Health and Safety Executives rules. Employers have an obligation under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and Approved Code of Practice (ACOP L74, Second Edition) to make adequate and appropriate first aid provision for their workforce.
The government also brought out a new shiny law in 2008. It is called The Corporate Manslaughter Act. It is a law where companies can now be found guilty of corporate manslaughter as a result of serious management failures resulting in a gross breach of a duty of care causing the death of an employee.
